My group and I did this short presentation on how things like self-centrism, ethnocentrism, plagiarism, and racism/racial slurs affect communication.
Bad human communication leaves us less room to grow.

My Self-Introduction Speech was also a short presentation, but unlike my group presentation, this speech was solely about myself. I recall being really nervous about this speech because it would be the first time I would get in front of the class to speak on my own. After I began to talk, to my surprise, I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be. If you can notice how my slides were really simple and to the point, you will also notice that throughout my next speeches I improve in the preparation of my PowerPoints as well as in the confidence I have in myself.
Take advantage of every opportunity to practice your communication skills so that when important occasions arise, you will have the gift, the style, the sharpness, the clarity, and the emotions to affect other people.
For my Narrative Speech with a Moral, I chose the childhood story of The Tortoise and The Hare. In this story, the moral is "Slow and Steady wins the Race!" which just means that no matter how difficult your journey to achieve a goal may be, that goal can be achieved if and when one dedicates time and effort to it.
Animation can explain whatever the mind of man can conceive. This facility makes it the most versatile and explicit means of communication yet devised for quick mass appreciation.
Why do people commit crimes? That was the topic of my Informative Speech. Being a Psychology major with a great interest in the Forensic aspect of it, this is a topic that brings a lot of curiosity to me and so I shared a little bit of information with my class. Here I appear a lot more confident and secure about myself because this is a topic that I can talk about with knowledge and even passion since it's what I'm interested in. Constantly touching my hair and saying "um" is something that I definitely realized I had to improve in and I believe I have and will continue to do so.
Effective communication is 20% what you know and 80% how you feel about what you know.
Physician Assisted Suicide ... against it or in favor of it? My Persuasive Speech was an interesting one involving this controversial topic. With this presentation, I tried to persuade my audience, the class, that assisted suicide is wrong and should be illegal in all 50 states. By this point in the course, I was doing great with citations and being nervous was something that no longer passed through my mind.
To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.
As a quick Anything Goes Speech, a group mate and I decided to do a short presentation on the before and after of our Speech course. Starting off with so many bad habits when it comes to public speaking, we believe to have improved very much in every aspect of speaking in front of an audience.
Communication - the human connection - is the key to personal and career success.
